UNIBEN Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Benin(UNIBEN) has released a revised academic calendar for the 2023/2024 session following a disruption caused by students’ protests over inadequate electricity supply and demands for good governance on campus.

UNIBEN Academic Calendar for 2024/2025 Academic Session

The protests, which temporarily halted academic activities, resulted in a revised schedule to ensure the academic session was completed successfully. The new calendar outlines the key dates and events for the first and second semesters.

First Semester Academic Calendar for 2024/2025

  • – Students are expected to report in Halls of Residence on Sunday, 11th August, 2024.
  • – Lectures commence in all Faculties on Monday, 12th August, 2024.
  • – Examinations for Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and School of Basic Medical Sciences occur from Monday, 2nd September 2024, to Friday, 6th September 2024.
  • – Examinations for other Faculties/Schools/Institutes start on Monday, 9th September, 2024.
  • GST Examinations are held from Wednesday, 18th to Thursday, 19th September, 2024.
  • Students go on break/end of the semester on Wednesday, 18th September 2024.

Second Semester Academic Calendar for 2024/2025

  • – Students report in Halls of Residence on Sunday, 6th October, 2024.
  • – Lectures begin in all Faculties on Monday, 7th October, 2024.
  • – Students proceed on Christmas and New Year Break from Friday, 20th December, 2024.
  • – Students resume to Halls of Residence on Sunday, 5th January 2025.
  • – Revision takes place from Monday, 6th to Friday, 10th January, 2025.
  • – Examinations begin in Faculties of Education, Engineering, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Physical Sciences, and School of Basic Medical Sciences from Monday, 13th to Friday, 17th January, 2025.
  • – Examinations are held in other faculties/schools/institutes from Tuesday, 21st, to Thursday, 30th January, 2025.
  • – GST Examinations occur on Friday, 31st January, and Saturday, 1st February, 2025.

Special Occasions:

– Eid-el-Maulud: 16th September, 2024

– Proposed Edo State Elections: 21st September, 2024

– Independence Day: 1st October, 2024

– Students’ Union Election: 17th October, 2024
