The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) was set up by the federal government of Nigeria in the year 1977. The JAMB (Joint Admission and Matriculation Board) examination is not compulsory for Technical Colleges. Applicants need five credits in WAEC (West Africa Examination Council) or in NECO (National Examination Council).
