About the XPRIZE Next-Gen Mask Challenge 2020
The Masks are really effective in slowing down and preventing the spread of the COVID-19 Virus, but not everyone has adopted this preventive measure. Some mask made by regular people are ill-fitting, not breathable, uncomfortable and the most effective masks are often not available, or very expensive. Well, that is why this challenge is here, we need to have an alternative. We need a face that is readily available, accessible, affordable, very functional, people should want to wear it for their everyday lives, fit a lot of wide wearers, and are effective when it comes to protecting the wearer and the community.
The team with the winning design would make a face mask that achieves filtration efficacy on par with a surgical mask and overcomes the top five barriers to mask-wearing as defined by an XPRIZE-conducted survey.
