About UNDP

The UNDP Armenia’s Impact AIM Climate Change Tech Accelerator 2020 is here and is looking forward to participants. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) happens to be the united nations’ global development network. They advocate for change and connect countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to aid people with building a better life. UNDP would be offering expert advice, training, and offering developing countries the support they need, with the increasing emphasis on assistance to the least developed countries. They would promote technical and investment cooperation among nations.

  • Passive and Smart living environments
  • Efficient Heating and/or Cooling Solutions

Benefits

This programme is going to be a 16-week intensive training and mentorship program that would bring about leading in the technology startups to be transformed into investment and market-ready by providing the following benefits:

  • Business Development Support: all participating startups would be guided in all phases of business development, including the development of product/service, value proposition, team composition, market strategy, custom traction, business model funding strategy, etc.
  • International mentorship: the startups would be offered the opportunity to work with leading business and tech international mentors.
  • Funding happens to be an essential part of this program: in other to contribute to the further growth of successful ventures, the program is partnering with ADB ventures. ADB ventures were established January this year to aid and invest in technology-driven businesses with significant potential to scale and bring effect impact. Its inaugural ADB ventures investment fund 1 is with a 17-year fund life and supports early-stage and growth-stage cleantech, agricultural technology, fintech, and health technology business. It would place full attention on companies with solutions that can address business. Its focus will be on companies with solutions that can address climate change and empower women.

The promising startups would be offered the opportunity to:

  • Pitch their ideas right in front of the evaluating committee, who would then pick the individuals worth monetary awards which is up to USD 10,000.
  • Partake in worldwide startup targeting events (they include Rise Conference, WebSummit, etc.)
  • Implement the PILOT PROJECTS for further scaling in the market
  • Pitch face facing online worldwide investors
  • Get introduce to VCs, financial sources, and investment channels.

Eligibility

  • This program was designed for the idea, seed, pre-seed and growth-stage startups, and for mature companies.
  • Startup teams and registered companies from different countries of the world bringing innovative technological solutions for the energy efficiency and renewables sector are invited to apply for the program.
  • Startups who are coming from both Armenia and abroad would partake in acceleration programs and related activities via online and remote communication channels.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria would be carried out based on the following:

  • Business Model
  • Product
  • Innovative approach
  • Problem definition and Impact
  • Market and scalability
  • Social dimension and Team.

Requirements

All Applicants are to submit online applications via the GUST platform where they will be required to fill the details of the technical and financial plans of their technology solution. The applications submitted are expected to address the relevant CCTA2020 energy sector development challenge and estimate the result they stand to achieve during a proof-of-concept or pilot of their technology solution.

In short, startups are recommended to:

  • Check out the GUST application form, to prepare the required information and documents before thinking of applying.
  • Place your aim at one of the Challenges of CCTA2020 Energy Efficiency and renewables
  • Have at least two founders in the company with a balance between tech and business skills
  • Be in possession of a solid MVP prototype, have a clear understanding with a balance between tech and business skills
  • Be prepared to display its scalable business model.
