The resumption date for academic activities has been announced by the senate.
The senate of the Rivers State University made this announcement at an emergency meeting that was held on Tuesday, 29th September 2020. It was announced that the resumption of academic activities for the 2019/2020 session has been approved by the Senate on the above-mentioned date.

Academic activities were put on hold on March 2020 due to the COVID 19 pandemic which led to students sitting at home for a long period of time. Newly admitted students as well as returning students were asked to stay home in order to find measures to stop the worldwide pandemic which was spreading like wide fire and claiming thousands of lives.
In recent times, measures have been taken especially during the lockdown to slow down the spread of the virus and end the massive deaths arising due to the pandemic. As such, the authorities now feel it is safe for students to return back to academic activities as a lot of academic sessions have been lost so students can catch up with the school schedule.
This resumption however will be done in response to COVID 19 preventive measures to ensure the safety of students, academic staff, and non-staffs of the institution.
RSU Resumption Date
The date stipulated for Rivers State University to resume academic activities is Monday 5th October 2020. The senate further approved that returning students will hold revision in a staggered pattern from year 5 to year 1. The revision is to start on Monday 5th October 2020 and end 9th October 2020. After the revision period, first Semester Examinations will be held as follows:

| Year 1 Students | Monday 9th – 13th November 2020 |
Staffs and students of the University will be communicated with for detailed information for the rest of the calendar of Academic activities for the 2019/2020 session.
Students who have made payment for school fees but have not registered, including those who have neither made payment for school fees nor registered are hereby directed to pay fees and register for their courses with immediate effect.
In order to avoid any doubt, we wish to inform students who have not paid school fees nor registered for their courses that failure to do so before the examination date will not be allowed into the examination hall to write the exams.
The senate directs all students to observe COVID 19 protocols upon resumption of school activities as sanction would be imposed on anyone who is found flouting this directive (COVID 19 protocols).
