About the 2020/2021 Panaf Paralegal Admission Form
Suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply for the 2020/2021 Pan-African Institute of Paralegal Studies which will lead to the award of the National Innovative Diploma (NID). The programme is operated as both full-time and part-time depending on the student’s preference. What is Paralegal Studies
Candidates who pursue a paralegal degree are often referred to as Legal Executives. They are people who have mastered the legal skill and can be employed by lawyers, government agencies or any other entities who function within the performance of legal work. Paralegals also render assistance to law enforcement agencies, professional bodies, the judiciary, financial institutions and corporations.
Paralegals perform various important legal tasks and administrative duties although they are not qualified to represent clients in courts. Upon successful completion of the programme of courses covered by the institution, an award of the National Innovative Diploma (NID) in Paralegal Studies is given to the candidate.
Pan – African Paralegal Studies Entry Requirements
For candidates to be considered for admission, there are four entry points into the institution and they are:
- Candidates who possess five credit passes, English Language inclusive in SSCE, GCE, NECO or NABTEB obtained at not more than two sittings.
- Mature candidates who have working experience are also eligible for admission.
- Candidates who got the minimum Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) cut-off point.
- Candidates who possess the institute’s Remedial Programme.
Programme Duration
The programme is operated as both full-time and part-time depending on what the student prefers. For the full-time programme, the duration is four(4) semesters rolled into tow(2) academic sessions. During the first semester of the second year, there is a compulsory three months Industrial Training Programme (SIWES). The part-time programme will run for a period of five (5) semesters of two and half academic sessions.
Admission Regulations
The following are the admission regulations:
- If students have reached the age of 16/17 in the first year of admission and possess the necessary qualifications for the proposed course, they may be admitted.
- Candidates are required to satisfy the entrance requirements of the institute in order for them to be considered for admission into the NID Paralegal Studies.
- Upon admission, students are required to pay the prescribed fees and also register as students of the Institute. Students are expected to submit their present birth certificate or declaration of age, documentary evidence of examination qualification for scrutiny at the admissions office of the institute.
- Attendance of an interview in the institute may be required from a candidate or any similar test may be conducted to enable the assessment of the candidate’s ability.
- The right to accept or reject any application for admission to a particular course of study is reserved by the institute.
