NDA Full-Time Undergraduate Admission Eligibility

Suppose you want full-time admission into the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) for a full-time undergraduate degree for the 2024/2025 session. However, the school offers multiple admission processes for candidates interested, and stipulated below are the full-time admission processes;

  1. Candidates eligible for 76 Regular Course admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) must have the following:
  •  Secondly, they must be medically and physically fit and of good moral character.
  •  Thirdly, they Must be single male or females without legal obligation to support any child or other individuals.
  • Present a Certificate of Indigeneship from the state government or local government area.
  • Be at least 17 years old and NOT more than 21 as of August 2024 (the year of entry into the Academy).
  • Furthermore, you must have passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations (UTME) and attained an acceptable minimum national standard (as determined by the JAMB annual policy meeting).
  • Must NOT be less than 1.68 meters tall for males and 1.65 meters for females.
  • Lastly, Knowledge of French, Arabic or Mandarin language is an added advantage.

JAMB Admission Requirements

If you will be sitting for the 2024 JAMB and wish to gain admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy through UTME. For entry into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA),

  • First, applicants must possess Five credit passes in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics, in their O-level result.
  • Secondly, you must have passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations (UTME) and attained an acceptable minimum national standard (as determined by the JAMB annual policy meeting).
  • Candidates must choose the right subject combination for their intended choice of study.
  • Also, Candidates must have NDA as their first choice university in their JAMB before being considered for admission.
  • Candidates must sit for school for the school post-UTME screening if they surpass the school JAMB cut-off.
  • Lastly, Candidates must be at least 17 years old and NOT more than 21 as of August 2024 (the year of entry into the Academy).

Is it Remedial or Pre-Degree? It’s Called in NDA

A Pre-Degree usually runs for one academic session to prepare students for UTME/Post-UTME examinations towards admission into 100 Levels of various degree programs and to prepare students with deficiencies in one or two O’level subjects.

Remedial/Pre-Degree to Degree Admission Requirements

The Nigerian Defence Academy does not offer a pre-degree program, as all admissions are processed through JAMB UTME.

Direct-Entry Admission Requirements

Is it IJMB or JUPEB? It’s Called NDA

JUPEB lets you secure admission into 200Level in any university in Nigeria without the need for UTME. Furthermore, JUPEB is approved by the federal government as a platform for connecting admission into higher institutions in the country. The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) does not offer JUPEB admission.

IJMB to Degree Admission Requirements

JUPEB to Degree Admission Requirements

Inter-University Transfer Degree Admission Requirements

The Nigerian Defence Academy does not accept Inter-University transfers. Candidates looking to apply for the 2024/2025 session must sit for the 2024 JAMB and surpass the required cut-off before being considered for admission.

NDA Sandwich Degree Admission Eligibility

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) does not provide any information on the admission process for a sandwich degree on its website as of now. Check back in later to find out. 

HND to Degree Top-Up Admission Requirements

NDA Postgraduate Degree Admission Requirements 2024/2025

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) offers two postgraduate programs, which are part-time and full-time. However, applicants can find the requirements for each program in the header below.

NDA Full-Time Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Suppose you’re interested in pursuing a full-time postgraduate degree. In that case, the Nigerian Defence Academy(NDA) offers a range of full-time programs for the 2024/2025 academic session. The school has specific requirements for each degree candidates must meet to be considered for admission. 

  • Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
  • Master’s degree (MSc)
  • Master’s in Philosophy (M.Phil)
  • Doctorate (PhD)

Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate

Applicants looking out for the Postgraduate Diploma at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) must meet the following requirements;

  • First, Candidates applying for the Postgraduate Diploma Programme must possess a Bachelor’s degree from the Nigerian Defence Academy or any other recognized University.
  • Also, a Higher National Diploma (with a minimum of Lower Credit pass), provided the academy matriculation requirement is satisfied.

Master’s Degree Programme

Applicants applying for a Master’s Degree for the 2024/2025 academic session should check the following requirements.

  • A candidate seeking admission into the Master’s degree Programme shall be a graduate of the Nigeria Defence Academy or any other recognized University and possess a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower  Division) in the relevant discipline.
  • A candidate with a minimum GPA of not less than 4.0 (on a scale of 5), a grade of a postgraduate diploma from the Academy may also be admitted to a Master’s Degree program or a GPA of 3.50 or 8 grade for a professional master’s Degree programme.

MPhil/PhD Degree Programme

  • This program is available to candidates who score less than a CGPA of 3.5 (but not below 3.2) on a 5-point scale or an equivalent 60%. The Programme is full-time and runs for at least 12 calendar months and a maximum of 24 months.
  • Also, MPhil/PhD candidates are expected to write and submit a dissertation at the end of the Programme. Candidates with satisfactory performance at the end of the MPhil programme may be upgraded to PhD.

Doctoral Degree (PhD) Programme

Candidates who have obtained appropriate Master’s degrees from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) or other recognized universities qualify for Doctorate Degree admission. The following are the requirements for the GSU Doctorate programme;

  • A candidate for the PhD degree must have a bachelor’s degree (minimum of Second Class Honours, Lower Division) and a master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CG PA of 3.50 or B grade in the appropriate area of study from a Nigerian Defence Academy or any other reorganized university.
