NDU IBCW Admission Requirements

Post Graduate Diploma (PGD)

Candidates looking forward to Admission into the Post-Graduate Diploma Programme of the Institute requires the following:

  • All candidates are expected to possess five or four credit passes of which Mathematics, two other relevant science/social science subjects and pass in English in case of science-based applicants and pass in Mathematics in case of social science-based applicants, acquired at a maximum of two sittings in SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or an equivalent examination.
  • Candidates in possession of a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved University, that have obtained a minimum of Pass or Third class in the relevant science or social science and law disciplines.
  • All the Holders of HND in relevant programmes from institutions that have been approved with a minimum of Lower Credit in the relevant disciplines. Relevant disciplines include but is not restricted to Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology or fields related social science.

Work experience and Having relevant professional training and membership certificates would attract the waiver of admission requirements.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc.)

Candidates applying for admission into the Master’s Degree Programmes require the following:

  • Candidates are expected to have five credit passes of which English, Mathematics and two other relevant science or social science subjects acquired at a maximum of two sittings in SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
  • Candidates in possession of Bachelor’s degree from an approved University, that have acquired a minimum of Second Class Lower with Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.40 and above would be eligible. Such related field includes Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Genetics, Zoology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Environmental Science and other related social science areas.
  • All Holders of HND in programmes that are relevant from approved institutions with a minimum of Lower Credit may be considered for admission. Relevant disciplines include the following, but not restricted to Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Environmental Science or related fields.

Work experience and Having relevant professional training and membership certificates would attract the waiver of admission requirements.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.)

Admission into the PhD Degree programme requires:

  • Are to possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes of which English Language, Mathematics must be included and acquired at a maximum of two sittings in SSCE/GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent.
  • Possess A Master’s Degree in any of the fields related from approved Universities with a Cumulative Grade Point of 3.00 and above or an overall average score average of at least 60%.
  • The fields related includes Botany/Plant Science, Microbiology, Agriculture, Forestry, Crop Science, Biochemistry, Zoology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biological Science, Environmental Science and other areas related to social science.

Work experience and Having relevant professional training and membership certificates would attract the waiver of admission requirements.

Additional Admission Requirements

  • The Academic transcript of past qualification (BSc, PGD, MSc, etc.) with forwarding letter that is signed by authorized officer of the institution and sent by a confidential cover to the Director, Institute of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Watersheds, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Candidates are required to write to the school that they graduated from for transcript immediately, they purchase and submit the form in other to prevent late submission of transcripts.
  • Two referees are to be provided, one of which is expected to be an academic Referee (Lecturer that taught the candidate in the former school, Project/ Thesis Supervisor, Head of Department, Dean of Faculty). Candidates are expected to fill in their referees’ email contacts in the course of the application and inform the referees as contact would be made to then via email and required to provide information online.
  • NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption/Exclusion Letter. (Candidates awaiting NYSC Discharge certificate are also eligible to apply as long as the certificate would be ready at the registration period).

Interested candidate can purchase the Application Form at www.ndu.edu.ng for the price of Thirty Thousand Naira (N30,000.00) only. Visit ibcw.ndu.edu.ng and click on admissions. Then click on the application. Enter mobile number and payment receipt number. Fill up the form and then upload the necessary documents. Print out the form for the Application and submit with all the other accompanying documents to the Director, Institute of Biodiversity, Climate Change and Watersheds, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State, Nigeria.

Candidates are to note that the N30,000.00 application fee is non-refundable.

All the payments are to be made to United Bank for Africa Plc, Swali Branch, Yenagoa, Account Number 1023328300.

Deadline: the sales of the admission form commences on September 15, 2020, and ends on Friday 29th January 2021. The portal would be close by 12 MIDNIGHT starting on Friday 29th January 2021 for the sales of forms.
