Application Process

If you fulfill the eligibility criteria and you are interested in applying, carefully follow these steps:

  • Intending applicants can access the full list of MCF eligible programs via this link
  • Once the applicant has chosen a program of interest, the next step is to consult the departmental requirements and also the graduate admission requirements to know if they are eligible for applying. It is important to note that meeting the minimum graduate admissions requirements does not give assurance of nomination for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Program or for admission at McGill University.
  • If the applicant meets the minimum requirement, he/she can request nomination from the department of choice via email. The request should contain the following:
  • University Transcript
  • CV (Curriculum Vitae)
  • Short personal statement with a maximum of 350 words.
  • The nomination of the department does act as a verification step. If an applicant happens to be nominated, he will have to create an account on the uApply portal and will have to share the username with the nominating department.
  • The applicant must wait for the nomination before they can create an account to enable the application for the MCF scholarship to be considered. Being nominated does not assure the applicant’s chances of getting admission into McGill University.
  • Once nominated, (the department is required to send the completed nomination form to mcf-scholars@mcgill.ca), the applicant will receive a fee waiver and is expected to complete the application in supply. The applicant should upload the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Application Form, the sponsor letter, and the bank statement to the uApply checklist.
  • The applicant should request that their Referee complete the MCFSP Recommendation form and return the completed form to be sent via email tomcf-scholars@mcgill.ca.
  • Immediately all requested documents are received, the department will review the application. If the applicant gets admission into their program of study, their MCFSP application will be pre-screened. If an applicant gets selected at the pre-screening stage, the application will move to the MCFSP Selection Committee for review. If admission is not given to the applicant in question, the applicant is not eligible for the scholarship anymore.
  • Applicants who emerge successfully will be notified in April 2020 if they have been selected for the scholarship.
