KASU JAMB Admission Requirements

Admission into the university shall be open to all, irrespective of religion, ethnic group, gender, creed and disability.

  • All admissions into the university shall be through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)
  • For admission to 100 Level, candidates must obtain five (5) credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects at not more than 2 sittings. Including credit passes in English and Mathematics and attaining acceptable points in pertinent subjects of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Is it Called Remedial or Pre-Degree in KASU?

At the Kaduna State University (KASU), it is called a Remedial program. The Remedial program is a one-year program that prepares students to sit for the annual JAMB and qualifying examinations.

A successful candidate in both studies is automatically qualified for admission into the 100 level of KASU.

Remedial to Undergraduate Admission Requirements

  • Candidates for the SCIENCE Remedial Programme must possess a minimum of three (3) O-Level credits in not more than 1 sitting in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography.
  • Candidates for the HUMANITIES Remedial Programme must possess a minimum of three (3) O-Level credits in not more than 1 sitting in the subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Government/History, Literature in English, Biology and Geography.
  • Candidates admitted to the Remedial Studies Programme must register and pass the SSCE or NECO in their deficient subjects.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to register for subjects not attempted at O-Levels.

Direct-Entry Admission Requirements

  • Prospective candidates must have a minimum of Five (5) relevant passes at Credit level in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by recognized Examination Bodies in not more than Two (2) sittings, including a pass at credit level in English and Mathematics.
  • Direct Entry (DE) candidates shall, in addition to the minimum Five (5) O’ level relevant credits (including English and Mathematics) in appropriate programmes applied, shall also obtain the minimum ‘A’ Level points for the programme.

Do KASU Offer JUPEB or IJMB Programme?

The advanced level programme candidates can apply for at the Kaduna State University (KASU) is IJMB.

After an approved examination administered by the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB), successful candidates are eligible for consideration for Direct Entry Admission into the undergraduate degree programmes of the Kaduna State University (KASU) or any other University in Nigeria.

  • All candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at O-Levels, including Mathematics and English Language, at at least 2 sittings. Candidates must also note that other requirements may be specific to a Faculty or a Programme.
  • For postgraduate diplomas (PGD), candidates must have a relevant Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university not lower than Third Class or
  • A bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in an area not related to the field applying for may be considered.
  • A higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of merit in a related field of study from a Polytechnic or any recognized Institution can apply.

Master’s Degree Programme

  • All candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at O-Levels, including Mathematics and English Language, at at least 2 sittings. Candidates must also note that other requirements may be specific to a Faculty or a Programme.
  • Possession of a first degree from Kaduna State University or any recognized University in the relevant field with a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2).
  • A Candidate with a Postgraduate Diploma with a CGPA of not less than 3.50.

Professional Masters Degree Programmes

  • All candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at O-Levels, including Mathematics and English Language, at at least 2 sittings. Candidates must also note that other requirements may be specific to a Faculty or a Programme.
  • Possession of a first degree from Kaduna State University or any recognized university in the relevant field with a minimum of second-class honours may be considered.
  • A candidate with a third-class degree or HND and a postgraduate diploma from Kaduna State University or any recognized institution with a CGPA of not less than 3.50.

Doctoral Degree (PhD) Programme

  • All candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at O-Levels, including Mathematics and English Language, at at least 2 sittings. Candidates must also note that other requirements may be specific to a Faculty or a Programme.
  • Possession of a first degree from Kaduna State University or any recognized university in the relevant field with a minimum of second-class honours may be considered.
  • Master’s Degree from Kaduna State University or any recognized university in the proposed field with a minimum CGPA of 3.5.
