It stands for Joint Admission and Matriculation Board which is a Nigerian entrance examination board into the tertiary level institution.

Basically, it is a yearly examination which is conducted by the Board to determine which students get into the various higher institutions of their choice all around the country. The inception of JAMB was in 1978 and at the time the pioneer Registrar was Mr Michael Said who served in that position for 8 years while the current serving Registrar is Prof. Olarewaju Oloyede.

The board conducts entrance UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) and it also holds the responsibility of conducting similar examinations for applicants to Nigerian public and private polytechnic and College of Education. However, all of these candidates are required to have obtained WAEC (West African Examination Council) certificate or National Examination Council (NECO) certificate, it’s equivalent.

JAMB Examination Registration Requirements

Before proceeding to the default requirements, it is important to note that prospective candidates are required you have a National Identify Number (NIN) slip to partake in the 2021 JAMB Examinations and gain entry to a Nigerian University as this is a measure to check examination malpractice. Some of the requirements are;

  • A personal email and phone number
  • Create your JAMB profile and take note of the profile code received
  • Buy the JAMB e-PIN and recommend novel (Sweet sixteen) at approved centres
  • Visit accredited CBT centres with profile, personal details and proof of payments to get the prescribed reading text, CD and eSyllabus for the Examinations.
  • Ten fingers biometric and pictures will be captured and uploaded at these accredited centres.
  • O level or A level grades are to be provided by candidates.

Each candidate is to collect their e-slip at the end of their registration as this will serve as evidence of registration. Candidates are also advised to follow the updates by JAMB to know when they are to reprint their Registration slip as this is the only way they can get to find out their Exam Venue and dates.

After the board conducts the Examinations, the results are released and can be checked online, it is the score you get that will determine if you get your desired Institution and course of study. So the higher you JAMB, the higher your chances are at getting the Institution and course to which you applied.

JAMB Examination Date for 2021

The 2021 Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Examinations has been announced and is set to commence on Saturday, 5th June 2021 alongside the accredited centres where prospective undergraduate gets to sit for the examinations and end on Saturday, 19th June 2021

It should also be noted that the closing date for sales of the JAMB 2021 form is Saturday, May 15th, 2021 which is six weeks after the commencement of the official JAMB form sales. But, bear in mind that the closing date is subject to change at any time so it is best to keep been updated.
