JAMB Admission Requirements

Applicants who are seeking admission to the University through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) may be admitted into the first year (100 level) of the 4/5 year degree programme provided that:

Candidates must possess five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. In a WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or its equivalent result, in only two sittings.
Candidates must score a minimum of 150 in the 2024 UTME. Additionally, only applicants who surpass the school’s cut-off will be eligible for the screening.
Candidates must ensure they choose the right subject combination relevant to their choice of study.
Candidates must be at least 16 on the first day of school resumption.

Is it Called Remedial or Pre-Degree in IBBU?

A Remedial/pre-degree program serves the same purpose: to prepare students to meet the standards for admission into the school’s full-time 100-level program. However, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) offers a Remedial program. Interested applicants can click here to apply.

Pre-Degree to Full-Time Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Applicants seeking a pre-degree to full-time undergraduate admission must possess at least five (5) relevant O/Level Credits, including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two (2) sittings.

Remedial to Full-Time Undergraduate Admission Requirements

All applicants seeking a Remedial to full-time undergraduate admission must meet the Departmental minimum entry requirement of Five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. There are only two sittings in a WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or its equivalent result.

Furthermore, Candidates must ensure they meet the required minimum final Pre-Degree exam cut-off marks for admission to the program of their choice. And fulfil all JAMB entry requirements.

IBBU Direct-Entry Admission Requirements

Applicants with one or more of the following qualifications may be considered for admission by direct entry into 200 level of the 4/5 Year degree programmes:

Two credit passes at the advanced level, and SSCE/GCE O’ level Credit passes in five relevant subjects obtained at at least two sittings.
Upper credit at the National Diploma and SSCE/GCE O-level credit passes in five relevant subjects obtained at least two sittings.
Passes at credit level in two major subjects in the NCE with SSCE /GCE O-level credits or equivalent with five relevant subjects. Education is accepted as a third A-level subject for those taking courses in education.
Two passes at a minimum C grade in the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) Examinations or equivalent with SSCE/GCE O’ level, and credit passes in five relevant subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.

Is it Called IJMB or JUPEB in IBBU?

IJMB to Full-Time Undergraduate Admission Requirements

Candidates seeking admission into the University of Lagos with an IJMB certificate should fulfil the following requirements.

HND holders from a recognized polytechnic with a minimum of lower credit.
Candidates must possess an NYSC discharge or an exemption letter.

Master’s Degree Programme

Candidates applying for admission into the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Master’s degree Program must satisfy the following requirements:

Five credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. In a WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or its equivalent result, in only two sittings.
Candidates must possess a minimum of Second Class Lower from IBBU or any other recognized university.
Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s degree Upper Credit HND should ensure they possess a PGD with a minimum of 3.50 on a 5.00 CGPA.
Candidates must possess an NYSC discharge or an exemption letter.

Doctoral Degree (PhD) Programme

Candidates applying for admission into the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU) Doctoral degree(PhD) Program must satisfy the following requirements:

Firstly, candidates must possess a Master’s degree from IBBU or any other recognized university.
Secondly, candidates must have a minimum of 4.00 on 5.00 CGPA, or 60% in their Master’s degree certificate.
Candidates with professional Master’s degrees are not eligible for the Ph.D. program unless they have obtained an M.Sc. degree in relevant fields.
Note: Candidates with a 3.50-3.99 CGPA on a 5.00 scale or equivalent(55-59%) in the Master’s degree may also be considered for the PhD program.
