This is to inform all students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education about the IAUE Resumption Date for Completion of the 2019/2020 Academic Session. The management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has announced the resumption date of academic activities for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, all academic activities were postponed indefinitely as the whole country went on lockdown. Now, effective preventive measures have been put in place making it safe once more for academic activities to take place.
IAUE Resumption Date for Completion of 2019/2020 Academic Session
Academic activities in the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education will resume on Monday, October 5, 2020. This was made known by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ozo-Mekuri Ndimele during an emergency senate meeting which was held virtually on Tuesday, September 29, 2020.
All the staff, students, and visitors of the institution (IAUE) must wear facemasks and have their temperatures checked at the gate of the university before entering the campus. This is to be done in response to the COVID 19 guidelines for the re-opening of schools. Also, they are all required to carry hand sanitizers and wash their hands at various points provided for the washing of hands within the campus.
It was further announced that lecturers must make sure that during lectures, students are wearing their facemasks and maintaining social distancing. Lecturers of the university are also to adopt blended learning or dual-mode (online and offline) teaching to enable them to cover the scheme of work.
Lecturers who have a large number of students will have to break the class into smaller groups and teach in batches in order to avoid jampacking of the students thereby violating the precautionary measures. Lecturers are also advised by the school management to space their lectures and hold some on weekends if they find it convenient so as to reduce workload and pressure.
Other Important Notices
It was made clear during the announcement that henceforth there will be no more sporting activities and social gatherings of any kind on campus. Any staff, student, or visitor who fails to obey the COVID 19 protocols will be sanctioned accordingly. The only entrance and exit point will be the main gate of the university, all students, staff, and visitors are advised to be patient and orderly.
This opportunity was used to remind all staff of the State Government’s caution against an industrial strike in all state-owned institutions. Any staff who fails to adhere strictly to the caution will be doing so at his or her own risk.

Students on Hostel Accommodation
This is to inform all students that hostels on campus will be opened from 6 am on Monday 5th October 2020.
The hostel will however be opened to only students coming from distant places. Students who are residing in the neighborhood, especially those who live in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor are advised to come to school from home so as to maintain social distancing and avoid overcrowding in the hostel. Strict guidelines regarding residence on the campus have been drawn up by the Students Affairs Office.
Note:
It was also announced that the 1st and 2nd semesters for the 2019/2020 academic session have been rolled In one. This means that no break between the two semesters is permitted. Lectures will commence from 5th of October 2020 to restore the lost interests of students back to academic activities.
Three weeks from the 5th of October, Level 400 Non-SIWES will spend a week in writing their 1st-semester exams. Afterward, Level 300, 2020, 100, and Level 4oo SIWES will follow, each spending a week to write their 1st-semester exams. Upon completion of each level 1st semester exams, students are to continue the 2nd semester without break. The management of the university intends to end the 2019/2020 session in February 2021.
