What happens if you break up with your ex and he or she happens to be a superhero? In this mid-2000s comedy, Matthew Saunders discovers this. When G-Girl can’t seem to get over her breakup, she uses her superpowers to disgrace her boyfriend. So, she gets him to reconsider their relationship.

Her antagonist takes advantage of the situation to try to drain her of her abilities. My Super Ex-Girlfriend, directed by Ivan Reitman, provides the genre with a low-stakes, lighthearted comedy. That isn’t dependent on IP, which is hard to believe in today’s superhero scene.

Can’t Buy Me Love is an underappreciated 1980s rom-com that plays on the false dating stereotype. Patrick Dempsey starred as a high school nerd in need of a makeover before he became McDreamy.

After rescuing the most popular girl in school, they pretend to date for a month to make him appear cool. However, during the course of the month, she begins to develop feelings for him. Though the film is mostly about this love story, it also conveys a fundamental lesson: high school popularity isn’t everything.

5. As Good as It Gets

The movie stars Jack Nicholson as a misanthropic romance novelist with OCD in As Good as It Gets. After his gay artist neighbour, played by Greg Kinnear, is attacked, he takes care of his neighbour’s dog.

Which gradually softens him up and allows others into his life, including a single mother and waitress with a sick child. Nicholson and Hunt won Academy Awards for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively, for their engaging performances. After a few etiquette lessons and an extravagant shopping spree. They fall in love with one other throughout the course of the week. Pretty Woman, directed by the legendary Garry Marshall, is a true masterpiece. Roberts, Gere, and Marshall would subsequently reunite for another fantastic romantic comedy, Runaway Bride.
