About the FULOKOJA Postgraduate Admission Form for 2020/2021 Academic Session
Federal University, Lokoja (FULOKOJA), is now inviting application from all suitably qualified candidates for admission into the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS) programmes for the academic session of 2020/2021.
Federal University Lokoja Postgraduate Admission Requirements.
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
The Postgraduate Diploma programme is expected to run for a period of two semesters and a maximum of four (4) semesters. Candidates that are interested are expected to be in possession of a first degree, not below third class or HND not below lower credit in disciplines from an institution that is recognized. Also, candidates are expected to be in possession of credits in English Language and Mathematics at O’level, including any other three subjects that are relevant.
Master Degree (Academic and Professional)
The Master’s Degree programmes have been scheduled to run for a period of 4 academic semesters and a maximum period of 6 semesters for all the full-time candidates; for a minimum period of 6 semesters and a maximum period of 8 semesters for part-time candidates. All the master degree programmes are by coursework. The following may be qualified for the Master Degree programme:
- Graduates of the federal university LOKOJA or other institutions that is recognized and have acquired the approved degree of Bachelor with at least second-class division or its equivalent or a candidate that is in possession of a university degree and the appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of the Federal University Lokoja or other institution that is recognized with a credit level pass.
- Candidates that are in possession of only a Bachelors degree in Third Class division and a relevant Postgraduate diploma
- A candidate with an unclassified with an average of “C” or 50% and above. Such candidates would be subjected to a qualifying test:
- Candidates are expected to be on possession of 5 relevant O’level credits of which mathematics and English is included.
- NYSC Discharge/Exemption certificate:
- Interested candidates would be required to pass an examination that was set out by the departments to which they would be seeking admission in other to know their suitability for Postgraduate work.
- Candidates that are in possession of qualifications other than the ones stated above, that is acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and the University’s Senate.
Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.)
The Masters of philosophy degree programme has been made available to all the full-time candidates. It has been scheduled to run for a minimum period of two academic semesters and a maximum of four semesters. All the candidates that are in this category are eligible for conversion to PhD. In other to be eligible for conversion for the PhD programme, candidates are required to at least score not less than 4.00 CGPA at the end of the first session. The following are eligible to qualify for the Masters of Philosophy admission.
- All the Graduates of the Federal University Lokoja or other institution that is recognized and have obtained their Master’s degree (Academic) with a CGPA of less than 3.0 on a 4-point scale or less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale;
- Holders of a Master degree (academic) in a cognate discipline with a CGPA of 4 and above;
- All candidates are expected to possess at least five relevant O’level credits of which English Language and Mathematics must be included
- NYSC Discharge/exemption certificate;
- All the candidate that are in possession of qualifications aside that of the ones stated above, that is acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.)
The PhD degree programme has been scheduled to run for a minimum period of six academic semesters and a maximum period of 10 semesters. The Relevant course would be accepted for the PhD full-time Studies where prescribed, and a thesis is required at the end of the PhD programme. The following is expected to qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:
- Graduates of Federal University Lokoja and other institutions that is recognized and have obtained a good Master degree (Academic) along with a CGPA of not less than 4.0 on a 5-point scale or 3.0 on a 4-point scale appropriate to the area of study proposed.
- Graduates of Federal University Lokoja and other institutions that is recognized that have acquired a Master of Philosophy degree appropriate to the area of study proposed.
- In addition to (i) and (ii) above, candidates are expected to possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Second Class lower division.
- Candidates are to be in possession of five (5) relevant O’Level credits, including English and Mathematics.
- NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate
- Candidates that possess qualifications aside the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board of the School of Postgraduate Studies and Senate of the University.
How to Apply
- First, go to the website of the University via this URL fulokoja.edu.ng
- Click on PG Portal
- After that, create your Postgraduate account by clicking on create your PG Account
- Enter all the required details in the displayed fields and create account
- Login your account in the PG portal making use of the Created PG account email address
- Generate a payment invoice and print it out your payment RRR
- With the RRR you generated, pay the application fee of N10,000.00 making use of REMITA services (card or bank payment):
For Card Payment: first, visit Remita.net, click on “Pay an Electronic Invoice”, Enter the RRR you generated (Remita Retrieval Reference), and then process the payment using the relevant card details.
For Bank payment: go to any Bank you wish to use that offers REMITA services and then make the payment using the generated RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) on your Payment invoice.
- Go back to the University’s PG Portal in other to confirm the payment
- After that, complete the form for the application online and then print out your Bio – date slip
