About the FUKASHERE New Vice-Chancellor

Professor Umaru A Pate has been announced as the new vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Kashere, Gombe State. The announcement was made by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the university’s governing council, Barrister Yakubu Ruba on Thursday.

The announcement was made after a rigorous selection process was held at the university’s council chamber. Ten other candidates were defeated by Professor Pate in order for him to become the third substantive vice-chancellor of the university. The new vice-chancellor will succeed  Professor Alhassan Muhammad Gani whose tenure ends on February 11, 2021.

Professor Pate scored the highest point which is 92.2 percent while professor Polycarp Emeka Chigbu scored 77.8 percent, while Professor Santaya Larit Kela scored 75.5 percent. The New vice-chancellor is a professor of Mass Communication and is the current Dean, School of Post Graduate Studies, and the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Communications at the Bayero University, Kano (BUK). According to Barrister Ruba, the appointment was based on merit and his excellent performance in the preceding exercise, the computer-based test, oral interaction, and other procedural inclusive.

He further urged him that the confidence which has been placed in him be justified by working diligently to develop the university and pray that God’s wisdom and ability will help him administer the institution to a greater height successfully. After receiving the acceptance letter, Prof. Pate thanked the council for finding him worthy of leading the university. He also promised to do his best to make the university a great citadel of learning.
