Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Pre-degree
programme of the Delta State University, Abraka, for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The programme is an intensive one designed to prepare candidates for entry into 100 levels of ALL degree programmes in the University, except Medicine and Law.

Candidates should possess five credits in relevant subjects in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or equivalent at least two sittings.

The subjects should include English Language and Mathematics. Candidates must have five credits in one sitting for Pharmacy and Nursing Science degree programmes.

This is to inform the general public that Delta State University Management has declared open the sale of forms for those who desire to change course from one programme to another or another University to Delta State University for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The prescribed form can be obtained at the Admissions Office after payment. The minimum amount to purchase the form is #5000. Note after buying the admission form, the fund is not refunded.

Intra-University Transfer Admission Requirements

This is to inform the general public that Delta State University Management has declared open the sale of forms for those who desire to change course from one programme to another or another University to Delta State University for the 2024/2025 academic session.

DELSU Part-Time Degree Admission Requirements

Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited for admission into the following Part-Time Professional Diploma Programmes. The study duration for the diploma programmes is four (4) semesters of part-time diploma courses.

1. Computer Science

To qualify for admission into a Professional Diploma in Computer Science programme, candidates must possess at least five O/L Credit passes at not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two of Biology, Chemistry, Economics and Geography.

2. Information Communication Technology (ICT)

General Admission Requirements

Candidates for postgraduate studies must have a degree or equivalent from a Senate-recognized institution.

They must have also obtained at least five (5) credit passes in WASC, NECO, GCE (Ordinary Level), or NABTEB at not more than two (2) sittings.

Credit Pass is required for O’ Level WAEC results in English Language and Mathematics in all programmes except in the Faculties of Arts and Law, where a pass in Mathematics is required.

ACE and TC II are not acceptable. (Not equivalent to WASC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB). Please note that there will be no waiver for anybody seeking admission into the programmes.

Postgraduate Diploma or Certificate

Candidates for Postgraduate Diploma programmes must hold a bachelor’s degree from Delta State University, Abraka in the relevant discipline.

Or any other accredited university with at least a “Third Class Honours” degree or an HND (Lower Credit) recognized by the Senate.

Master’s Degree Programme

Candidates applying for academic Master’s Degrees (M.Sc., M.Ed., M.A. LL.M. and M.Eng.) must hold bachelor’s degrees in the relevant discipline from the Delta State University, Abraka.

Or any other accredited university with at least “Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree recognized by the Senate.

Professional Master Degree Programme

Candidates applying for a professional Master’s Degree must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline from Delta State University, Abraka.

Or any other accredited university with at least a Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree recognized by the Senate or a Higher National Diploma with Upper Credit from a Senate-recognized polytechnic.

Doctoral Degree (PhD) Programme

A candidate applying for a PhD in any programme must have obtained at least a weighted average score of 60% overall. Or a CGPA of 3.50.

M.Phil Degree Programme

The M.Phil entry requirements are a Master’s degree (M.A, M.Ed, M.Sc, etc.) with less than 60% average (i.e. 50%-59%) or a CGPA of 3.00-3.49.

DELSU Part-Time Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited for admission into the following 5-year and 4-year Part-Time Degree Programmes (CEP).

Applicants must register with JAMB immediately after the purchase of forms. Applicants who already have an NYSC discharge certificate or are not interested in an NYSC exemption letter need not register with JAMB.

1. B.A. ENGLISH

a. Five (5) Years B.A. English (Basic Requirements)

i. NECO or S.S.C.E. or G.C.E. ‘O’ Level Credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language and Literature in English, and one Arts subject plus at least a pass in Mathematics, or one science subject or a credit pass in any of the Social Science subjects.

ii. TC II Certificate with credit/merit in at least five relevant subjects obtained in not more than two sittings.

b. Four (4) Years B.A. English (Direct Entry Requirements)

At least merit passes in two Arts subjects, including English Language or Literature in English at G.C.E ‘A’ Level, or O.N.D. with Upper Credit in English and Literary Studies.

In addition, the candidate is expected to possess NECO or S.S.C.E. or G.C.E. ‘O’ Level credit passes in at least five subjects, including English Language and Literature in English, and one Arts subject plus a pass in Mathematics or one science subject and a credit pass in any of the Social Science subjects.
