About the Commonwealth Foundation COVID-19 Special Grants

The purpose of the Commonwealth Foundation COVID-19 Special Grants is to empower the foundation to give support to the commonwealth civil society organization in response to the virus quickly and efficiently and in a way that the broader mission of the foundation will be reflected.

To this end, the focus will be placed on supporting national initiatives that target to constructively engage with the government in strengthening relevant institutions, practices, and policies as the communities and nations as a whole seeks to recover from the pandemic.

Prize

Grants worth of £10,000 to £30,000 will be awarded for a year.

Other Eligibility Criteria

  • All applicants must be registered under a not-for-profit civil society organization.
  • All applicants must be registered under an eligible Commonwealth member state.
  • The applicant must be applying for just a year.
  • The average income of the applicant over the last 2 years must not exceed £
  • Project must address one or more of the focus areas.

Supporting Documents

  • Completed Logic model.
  • Completed Project plan.
  • Completed Budget.

These must be compiled using the commonwealth foundation templates. Other supporting documents include a copy of the following

  • Organization registration certificate.
  • Organization recent audited accounts or annual accounts for applications of grants of £10,000 to £14,000 or for £15,000 to £30,000.
  • Attendance at workshops, training courses, and conferences.
  • Academic study transcripts or research.
  • Books or films publications.
  • Exchanges made between developed nations.
  • Private sectors or government targeted activities.

If you fall under the following category below you will be considered as ineligible.

  • Government or intergovernmental organizations.
  • Profit organizations.
  • If you are not from any of the eligible countries.

NOTE: trust deeds will not be accepted in place of the registration certificate. If you are shortlisted and your registration certificate is not in English you will be asked to provide a translation in English.
