Job Description

Interested and eligible candidates can apply to be hosted by CERN in engineering fields and research and applied physics. Your proposal for the research must comply with the CERN R&D program and must also follow the set-out work plan as approved in the ERC Grant Arrangement.

After the selection process carried out by CERN and if it comes out successful your proposal will be examined by the ERC, if CERN decides to back your proposal you will then stand a chance to be offered staff membership contract in CERN for as long as the ERC grant lasts up to 5 years at most.

Eligibility

To be qualified for the CERN European Research Council (ERC) Grants 2020 you must meet up to the following criteria

  • Candidates from are nationality are welcome to apply for the CERN European Research Council (ERC) Grants 2020.
  • 2 to 7 years post completion of Ph.D. is required for the starter grant and a scientific track record of great promise.
  • 7 to 12 years post completion of Ph.D. is required for the consolidator grant and a scientific track record of great promise.

  • 3 recommendation letters.
  • A proposal summary of up to 5 pages.

You can upload these documents while applying, after submitting your application you will be given a link to forward to your referee(s) to upload their letters. All these must be done before the deadline for application.

Before submitting your application under the vacancy notice you must notify the CERN EU project office and CERN department head of your intention to apply. Applications should be submitted via the CERN career portal.

Applications will be considered and evaluated by CERN pre-selector panel, you will later be interviewed in person or through video.
