We’ll walk you through the admission procedures and necessary information for all four programs to include HND, ND, PRE-ND, and certificate programmes. More details are provided below.

ABU DAC Courses and Programmes

ABU DAC Admission Requirements

To become eligible for admission into ABU DAC HND, ND, PRE-ND and its certificate programmes the following requirements under respective programs are to be satisfied

1. Higher National Diploma

  • Candidates seeking admission into the Higher National Diploma programmes should have National Diploma with at least Lower Credit in any relevant accredited Agricultural programmes plus a minimum of one (1) year working experience after graduation.
  • Candidates must also have credit passes in the relevant five subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Chemistry/Physics, and Agricultural Science/Biology at WAEC (GCE), NECO, and NABTEB. The five credit passes are pre-requisites for admission into the National Diploma programmes.
Other specific requirements for the individual courses are as follows.
  1. Agricultural Extension and Management: Candidates must have National Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Agricultural Engineering Technology, Animal Health and Production Technology, and NCE (DM).
  2. Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology (Farm Power and Machinery): Candidates must have National Diploma in Agricultural Engineering Technology or relevant programmes.
  3. Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology (Soil and Water): Candidates must have a National Diploma in Agricultural Engineering Technology or relevant programmes.
  4. Pest Management Technology: Candidates must have a National Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Agricultural, and Bio-Environmental Engineering Technology and Science Laboratory Technology.
  5. Animal Health Technology: Candidates must have a National Diploma in Animal Health and Production Technology.
  6. Animal Production Technology: Candidates must have a National Diploma in Animal Health and Production Technology or Agricultural Technology.
  7. Crop Production Technology: Candidates must have a National Diploma in Agricultural Technology (General Agriculture)
  8. Horticulture and Landscape Technology: Candidates must have National Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Horticulture, and Landscape Technology or Forestry Technology
  9. Home and Rural Economics: Candidates must have National Diploma in Home and Rural Economics, Food and Nutrition, Hotel Management Technology, Catering, Food, and Dietetics or NCE in Home Economics (DM).
  10. Pasture and Range Management: Candidates must have National Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Animal Health, and Production Technology, Forestry Technology, or Wildlife Management.

2. National Diploma

  • Entry requirements into the National Diploma Programmes must be through JAMB, the cut-off point into the programmes is normally determined at every year’s JAMB policy meeting.
  • Candidates must have Credit Passes in English Language and Mathematics as stipulated by the National Policy on Education. Other relevant credits subjects at WAEC ordinary level, NECO, NABTEB, or Teachers Grade II at not more than two sittings or a combination of any of the two e.g. WAEC plus NECO.
The 5 subjects for various courses are not entirely the same and vary as follows:
  1. Agricultural Technology: Credits level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any other from the following: Geography, Economics and Physics.
  2. Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering Technology Programme: Credits level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language and Mathematics, Physics, Biology / Agricultural Science and any other one from Chemistry / Geography / Economics/Further Mathematics.
  3. Home and Rural Economics Programme: Credit level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science/Food & Nutrition/Home Management and any other from the following: Geography, Economics, Religious Knowledge, Nigerian Languages.
  4. Animal Health and Production Technology: Credit level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language and Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any other from the following: Geography, Economics and Physics.
  5. Fisheries Technology: Credit level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry, and any other from the following: Geography, Economics, and Physics.
  6. Horticulture and Landscape Technology: Credit level passes in 5 subjects that must include English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Agricultural Science, Chemistry; and any other from the following: Geography, Economics, and Physics.

3. Pre-National Diploma/Remedial (Science and Technology)

  • Candidates seeking admission into Pre-ND programmes must have at least passes in four relevant subjects at ‘O’ Level in WASC/GCE/NECO or NABTEB. The Pre-ND programme is only to prepare the candidate to pass the UTME examination and ‘O’ level certificate.

4. Certificate Programmes

  • Candidates wishing to apply for Certificate Programmes must have a minimum of two non-credit passes in any of the science subjects at WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or both.

How to Apply

Application forms can be obtained online via the ABU DAC website via this link. The cost of the forms for the various programs are as follows:

National Diploma: Application forms for National Diploma (ND) are obtainable on payment of two thousand Naira (N2,000.00) only.

HND, PRE-ND & Certificate: Application forms for HND, PRE-ND & Certificate are obtainable on payment of two thousand five hundred Naira (N2,500.00) only.

Here’s the method of application:

  1. First, visit the college website at http://dac.abu.edu.ng
  2. On the landing page, you’ll find a tab that reads “application forms on sale”. Click on the purchase link in the tab.
  3. You’ll be redirected to the application form page, Select “click here to apply”.
  4. Follow the prompts, provide the relevant information required, and click the link “Create Account”.
  5. Next, Click on “Generate RRR” to obtain your RRR Transaction ID.
  6. Lastly, click on either “Pay via Remita” to use your ATM card for payments, or print “Transaction Slip” to make your payment at any commercial bank that is online.
  7. Proceed to make payments with whichever method you prefer.

After making payments, as required, ensure to revisit the admission forms portal and login with your username and password to complete your registration.
