About the AAU Ekpoma Postgraduate Admission Form for 2019/2020 Academic Session

Students are to be informed that AAU Ekpoma is inviting applications from all suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Higher Degree and postgraduate Diploma programmes (Full-time and Part-time) of Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma for the 2019/2020 academic session.

AAU Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Master’s degree programmes

Candidates that are possession are in of following qualifications may be considered for admission:

  1. Students are expected to possess a second-class honors degree of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any other university of recognized standing in the relevant discipline.
  2. Third Class bachelor’s Degree plus PGD or HND and any other professional qualification with appropriate PGD from a university that is recognized.
  3. All the Holders of LL.B with a minimum of B.A. or B.ED (French) with a minimum of the second-class lower division of any recognized university.
  4. For Masters of Arts in French studies, holders of B.A or B.ED (French) with a minimum of second class lower Division of any university recognized.
  5. For Master of Business Administration, (MBA) and Master of public administration (MPA) holders of a bachelor degree not below second-class lower division in any administration related discipline, plus at least one-year post qualification experience.
  6. The candidate that are for the M.Sc programme in business administration are expected to pass:
  • Possess at least five credit passes (or equivalent) in GCE O/L or WASCE or NECO or NABTEB which should in all the cases include English Language, Mathematics and Economics or Commerce or Accounting and which must have been obtained at a maximum of two sittings.
  • Possess a minimum of a B.Sc degree (Second Class Lower Division) in business administration from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, or any other university in Nigeria and Overseas recognized by the Senate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma.
  • Are expected to be holders of the postgraduate diploma in business administration/management from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any Other University in Nigeria and Overseas recognized by the Senate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma with an average score of 50% may also be considered.
  • Candidates that are in possession of HND (Upper credit) in Business administration/management from a recognized Polytechnic must possess additional/management from a recognized polytechnic must possess an additional qualification which includes MBA, PGDBM, etc.
  1. For the master of science in Medical Laboratory Science, other relevant professional qualifications placed under-considered on their own merit.

M.Phil Programme

Candidates who are expected to possess any of the following qualifications may be considered for admission.

  1. Graduate of the Ambrose Alli University with master’s degree in a related discipline.
  2. All the graduates of any other approved university with the qualification that is specified (i) above.
  3. Other departmental requirements as stated in the school of postgraduate studies Handbook

Admission requirement into Master of Science (M.Sc.) programme

Admission requirement for Master of Science in Strategic Studies and Policy and Development studies would be second class (Hons) lower-division upwards. However, the related areas of studies to qualify for admission will be the same as above (PDG).

Ph.D Programme:

A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, or any other recognized Standing that possesses Master’s degree appropriate to the intended course may be admitted. However, such intending candidate should have scored an average and of 60 Percent in his/her Master’s or M.phil programme.

Departmental Requirements: Notwithstanding the above, a Department may be required by an applicant, as a condition for admission, in other to undergo the appropriate test, interview, examinations, and/or take appropriate pre-requisite or concrete courses. Students, where applicable, would be made to fulfill the Ph.D that is qualifying the examination requirements in other to confirm their title/proposals registration.

Postgraduate Diplomas

Department of Crop Science (Full-Time Only)

B.Sc with any of the third class degree in any area of Agriculture, or related science disciplines including Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Forestry, Agricultural Education from further academic pursuit in crop science.

Department of Animal Science (Full-Time Only)

B.Sc with a third class degree in any area of Agriculture, or related science disciplines including Botany, Microbiology, Zoology, Chemistry, Forestry, Agricultural Education from further academic pursuit in crop science

Postgraduate Diploma in Architecture

With at least a third-class Hons degree in Architecture

Postgraduate Diploma in Geography and Regional Planning (PGDGRP)

Are expected to possess at least a third-class honors degree in Geography and regional planning or any other related discipline that is relevant to Geography from AAU or any other recognized equivalent. All the institution holders of HND/HNC from a polytechnic or college of technology may be considered.

Postgraduate Diploma in Engineering (PGDENG) (Civil, Elect/Elect, and Mechanical and Material & Production Engineering)

Must be Holders of good HND in Engineering with a minimum of four (4) years post-qualification cognate experience or Graduate in fields relevant to Engineering of any recognized University shall be considered.

Postgraduate Diploma in Botany (PGDB)

Minimum of Third Class Honours Degree in Botany or other Science related disciplines.

Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry (PGDIC)

  • Students are expected to possess at least a third-class degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or Chemistry education.
  • HND with a credit pass in chemistry or other science-related disciplines.

Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS)

Students are expected to possess at least a third-class degree of Ambrose Alli University or any other institution that is recognized in a science-based discipline. Other relevant professional qualifications may be considered on their own merit.

Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics (PGDS)

  1. With a minimum of Third Class Honours Degree of Statistics or Mathematics from Ambrose Alli University or any other university of recognized standing, in the relevant disciplines such as biology, biochemistry, and food technology.
  2. Are expected to be holders of FIMILS and AIMLS in all the science-related discipline.

Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry (PGDBCH)

At least Third Class Honours degree in Biochemistry or other related Science Disciplines

Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics (PGDS)

At least Third Class Honours Degree of Statistics or Mathematics from Ambrose Alli University or any other university recognized standing

Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)

  • Are to possess a First degree from Ambrose Alli University or other recognized University
  • N.D from recognized Polytechnic or equivalent.
  • Full professional qualification of recognized professional Bodies approved by the Senate of the University.

Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration (PGDPA)

A graduate of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma or any University that is recognized in any discipline or holder of H.N.D in any discipline with at least three years cognate experience.

Centre for Strategic and Development Studies (PGD)

The admission requirements are expected to HND (Less than Merit) or a bachelor’s degree (with a minimum of second class lower) For Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): strategic, the related areas will include international relations, political science, History, International Studies, and law. For Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): and Development studies, the related areas would include Economic, public administration, and any other social science course.

Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)

Candidates of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, or any other University of recognized standing that possesses a good first-degree classification that is acceptable to the senate. In all cases,

Candidates are expected to be in possession of the National youth service scheme (NYSC) Discharge Certificate or exemption certificate.

Duration of AAU Postgraduate Programmes

The duration of the courses to be offered shall be as follows:

Ph.D Programme (Full-Time)

The duration shall not be less than five (5) academic sessions and a maximum of eight (8) academic sessions.

Ph.D. Programme (Part-Time)

The duration shall not be less than five (5) academic sessions and a maximum of eight (8) academic sessions.

Master’s Degree Programme (Full-Time)

The duration shall be a minimum of three (3) Semester and a maximum of Six (6) Semesters. An extension may be allowed for not more than two semesters.

Master’s Programme (Part-Time)

The duration shall be in the range of a minimum of three (3) academic sessions and a maximum of four (4) academic sessions. An extension may be allowed for not more than one (1) academic session.

Postgraduate Diploma

The duration shall not be less than one (1) academic session for Full-Time and not more than two (2) academic sessions for Part-Time.

Note: In exceptional cases, an additional extension of a maximum of more than one (1) academic session may be approved by Senate on the recommendation of the Board for all the postgraduate programmes.

How to Apply for AAU Postgraduate Admission Form

APPLICATION FEE:

All the applicants are expected to purchase an eTransact PIN (Payment Voucher) available for the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma’s School of postgraduate studies form at a fee of about N23,000.00 only from fidelity bank PLC, Ekpoma.

PROCEDURE FOR ON-LINE APPLICATION

  • On the purchase of the eTransact PIN (Payment Voucher), all the candidates are expected to go to the Ambrose Alli University website at https://aauekpoma.edu.ng or Portal at https://aaue.waeup.org in other to complete and then submit the school of postgraduate studies application form with the reference to the handbook. All the candidates are expected to upload their colored passport photographs and scanned copies of the relevant certificates/documents to the portal.
  • Candidates are expected to preview and confirm that the passport photograph is uploaded correctly, as no complaint of the wrong or blank picture will be entertained after submission of forms.
  • Candidates are expected to print out a copy of the duly completed application form with their passport photograph and then submit a hard copy to and then collect a hard copy of the Handbook from the school of Postgraduate studies.
  • Students are expected to check their application instructions tab on the university Portal for Proper guidance.

Duration of Application

The form for the application of the school of postgraduate studies programmes would be made available online for the completion and the submission to the school of Postgraduate Studies office from 1st December 2019 – 31st December 2020.

All the candidates are expected to take note of the following:

  1. The Technology fee and bank charges is expected to be charged at the point of the purchase of the eTranzact PIN (Payment Voucher).
  2. All the names are to be written in full when completing the online application forms as no initials would be entertained.
  3. Candidates are expected advised to fill their forms online personally, as cases of fraudulent practices in the admission process will not be entertained.
  4. The form’s serial number would serve as the examination number where necessary.
