UMYUK Postgraduate Admission Form

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate Programmes of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, for the 2024/2025 Academic session. Interested applicants are advised to apply online via https://collegeportal.umyu.edu.ng/pg/applicant/index/

Duly completed application forms and supporting documents should be forwarded to the SECRETARY, POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL, UMARU MUSA YAR’ADUA UNIVERSITY, KATSINA. P.M.B. 2218, KATSINA not later than 31st December, 2024.

ADMISSIONS INTO FULL-TIME POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2024/2025 ACADEMIC SESSION

Prospective students are to apply for admission into the following full-time Postgraduate Programmes of Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina, for the 2024/2025 academic session.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA

The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:

Graduates of recognized Universities;

Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas;

Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

MASTER’S DEGREE

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: –

Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent or

Candidates with a University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma from UMYU or any other recognized University with at least a Credit level pass.

Candidates with qualifications other than those listed above are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

The following shall qualify for Professional Master’s degree admission:

Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with at least Second-Class Honors or equivalent.

Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in the Third Class division with at least five years of relevant working experience.

Candidates with a Higher National Diploma (HND) and at least a credit pass in postgraduate diploma of UMYU or a recognized institution in a relevant area.

Candidates with qualifications other than those listed above are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:

Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study;

Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a Master of Philosophy degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on five (5) a point scale in the relevant field of study to proceed for PhD in the appropriate field to the proposed area of study;

In addition to (i) – (ii)above, a candidate must possess at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with Second Class lower division;

Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University;

The candidate must state the proposed area of research and submit a synopsis of at least 500 words on the topic.

Matriculation Requirement:

In addition to A, B, and C above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements for the programme, i.e., five relevant Credit Passes at the O’Level, including English and Mathematics.

Selection Process:

All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process. A screening/entrance examination may be held on a date that will be announced on the University Website (www.umyu.edu.ng). Candidates are therefore advised to check.

Method of Application

Interested candidates for any of the Postgraduate Programmes can apply online via the Postgraduate Application Portal from 19 August 2024 to 31 December 2024.

The admission requirements and procedures for payment of application fees (N10,500) are available at www.umyu.edu.ng.

All candidates are required to request their previous Institutions to forward either a soft copy or a hard copy of their academic transcripts to the Secretary of Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.

A soft copy of academic transcripts should be emailed to sec.pgs@umyu.edu.ng. All academic transcripts should reach the Secretary of the Postgraduate School no later than the closing date of the application.
